It’s one thing to to schedule a planned visit after we have set up a library. Usually the school, knowing the donor is visiting, makes a concerted effort to tidy up the space and fill it with students who are instructed to behave and read. It is quite another when we plan a surprise visit, to see how the library is being used on a day to day basis. Thus, we were so happy when we did just that at Lewa, and found a class of students reading quietly in the library as the librarian worked away covering the remaining books that needed to be covered. It was the perfect scene to come across!
